Just for you

Hello everyone! Life has been hectic in every way this past week or so, hence the lack of posting.
I have something to share with you starting next week, as I've been working on that project as well.

This weekend starts our birding venture, which Bill and I do every spring.  Bird migration happens usually the first 3 weeks of May, at least that is when the big influx of birds come through our area. We spend lots of time at Pt. Pelee National Park and Rondeau Provincial Park, both along Lake Erie. Can't wait, so excited.  Beautiful day tomorrow, chance of rain Sunday and Monday, but then again when is the weather man every right!

So my card today is done with some back ground distress ink wash, stamping, die cutting and embellishing.  I will be doing a similar card for my card classes at Paper Pickle in May as well.

I started with some TH water colour paper, soaked it down with water and then added distress inks - peacock feathers, twisted citron and squeezed lemonade. I then cut it out using an MFT stitched rectangle die.

For my tag I stamped an image from Penny Black blooming tags using squeezed lemonade onto some white card stock. It is in the shape of a tag which made it easy to cut out, then sponged some ink around the edges. The black vine is a rub on which I pulled out of my stash- gosh I really need to use these more, just love that little bit of extra it gives. I punched the tag hole out and added a peel and stick enamel rain dot (another embellishment from my stash) - getting good at using stash items on this card!.  I also stamped a little flag tag with a sentiment from Penny Black - Snippits.  This is a beautiful set of lots of small font and small sayings- a great set for all card makers to have - just sayin!

For the top butterfly I used water colour paper and made a colour wash again- a bit more saturated in colour because I wanted it to stand out.  I then used MB moonlight butterfly die to cut it out.  I also used MB Lunette butterfly to cut the turquoise butterfly.

To put it all together, I adhered the doily to the background piece, added some fun foam to the back of the tag to give it some dimension off the card.  Adhered the two butterflies together and then adhered to the tag. Added some clear sequins and some gorgeous glitter dots from Prima. And there you have it! I will be making more of these - this was a fun card to do.

Thanks for the visit today. I hope you have a great weekend - I know I will.  I'm sure I will have lots of 'bird' photo's to share over the next couple of months.

Spring meadow bouquet

I hope everyone is having a good week.  This week is flying  right on by for me, so much that I almost forgot to post.  I was going to do it on Monday, but was so busy out in the garden (my day off), that it slipped my mind.

Anyway, here I am today, another Power Poppy digital image all coloured up and ready to share:
This image is called  spring meadow bouquet.

After resizing I printed it onto some white cougar 100 lb c/s.  I used prisma colour pencils to colour.
I didn't even keep track of the colours all I can say I used lots! I used Copic BG0000, BG000 for the shading around the flowers.

I used spellbinders grand calibur square die to cut the image out and then for my card base I used spellbinders Triple floral die. I cut two from this die, scored about 1" on the top back side and just glued the 1" part to the front, this way the recipient is able to open the card because of the score line.
Instead of dimensionals  I used fun foam for the backing of the image piece to lift it off the card base.

I added wink of stella clear pen to the flowers and  some  sequins. I think you can see all the shimmer from the wink of stella pen on this close up picture.

Enjoy the rest of your week, thanks for stopping by.

March birds #2

I'm back to share some more of Bill's photo's.  We had the opportunity to see a Gyrfalcon.  This is one of the largest falcons in the world.  Because they breed so far north along the Arctic, it is rare to see them down this far in SW Ontario. As we were driving around the concession where he was reported being I saw him way out in a field (with binoculars).  Looks like he took down a Gull. He didn't seem to mind Bill being there.  Bill was about 50-60 ft from him for close to an hour.

We decided to take a drive back up the following day to see if he was still around to get a better picture of him - preferably up in a tree, and guess what - we lucked out!

After spending a few hours with the Gyrfalcon we took a drive to Springbank Park in London because we heard that there was a juvenile harlequin duck there.  Bill went down the river bank and spotted him out on a little island.  He is so cute!

It was our lucky weekend.  Two more 'lifers' checked off on our list.

Thanks for stopping by.

Another abstract card

Hello everyone.  I must say it is starting to feel like Spring has arrived, warming up a bit each day and by the weekend we should be in the upper 60's! I'm getting that 'itch' to get out in the gardens and get everything cleaned up.

My card today is a card I made for my Team Lead - he started a new job within our company but in another department. So we had a little celebration and everyone in our dept signed the card.

I started with a piece of canson water colour paper, MISTI,  MFT abstract art stamp set and various distress inks (peacock feathers, cracked pistachio, peeled paint, ripe persimmon, carved pumkin)

I placed my paper in my MISTI, laid one of the abstract stamps where I wanted it, closed the MISTI to pick up my stamp, ink the stamp, spritz then closed the MISTI to transfer the ink to the paper.  I continued to do this by adding different shapes and sizes of stamps - ink, spritz & stamp. What I love about the MISTI is that if you don't get  clean crisp impression the first time, you can re-ink your stamp and stamp again - perfect everytime!

For the sentiment I used one of the sentiments from a Penny Black set called - snippets.  The sentiment actually says - just for you - I only wanted the 'for you', so again I placed the stamp onto my stamped background while it was in the MISTI, closed the lid to pick up the stamp, inked with black versafine the ' for you'  and closed.  It was a perfect impression so I didn't need to re-stamp it.

For the leaves I used Papertrey Ink - Leaf Silhouette dies, I cut them from brushed gold metallic paper, and for the plain leaf die I cut from deep orange.

To finish off I tied some twine around the top layer then glued the leaf cluster under the bow.

Thanks for stopping in today, have a wonderful day.

Springtime Tulips

Hi everyone.  I can't believe how fast this week has flown by. It's been a busy week, both at work and home.  I've been working on Mother's Day cards as well as Mark & Anna's wedding invitations.

Today's card is a digital image from Power Poppy called "Tulips".

After resizing and printing I used copics to colour.  I then cut the image out with an oval die, left the die in place then sponged some antique linen around the top and shabby shutters around the bottom.

Designer paper is from Authentique - Springtime.  I did a top folding card this time - which I don't do to often.  I used a  corner rounder to round the bottom corners on all three pieces.

After adhering the dp to the  black card stock I tied some yellow gingham ribbon around the adhered this to my base card.

Finished off with some enamel dots and wink of stella clear pen for the a bit of glitter on the tulips.

Supplies:
Stamp - Power Poppy - digital tulips
ink- distress antique linen, shabby shutters, copics - Y21, Y38, YR27, YG01, YG03, YG17, YG25, YG67
paper -  cougar white 100 lb, black, Authentique - springtime
dies - spellbinders - oval, grand calibur nested ovals one
misc - corner rounder, gingham ribbon, enamel dots, wink of stella clear pen

Thanks for the visit.  I hope I inspired you today. Have a wonderful day,

Pauline

Butterfly kisses

TGIF!  First of all, thank you for all the wonderful comments on Bill's photo's in my previous post. I will share some more next week.

For my card today I did some water colouring with my new set of Gansai Tambi paints.  Wow, these are such a treat to use, the colours are so vibrant and you only need very little paint and it goes a long way.

This image is called Butterfly Kisses from Penny Black. Another stamp I pulled from the archives!

Using watercolour paper I embossed the image using white embossing powder. I then taped down my watercolour paper so it would remain flat as I added the water.   I then added my paints to the image.  Once my image was coloured and dried (I used a heat gun to speed up the process) I went along and wet the paper around the image with a big fat paintbrush, then picked up some light colours and dropped it in, and with having laid some water down first the paints just move and blend.  To get the splatter, I made sure my brush was good and wet, picked up some paint and tapped the paint brush against my finger and voila - splatters! So cool - love this!

I cut out the image using spellbinders labels twenty eight die, then added some gold krylon marker around the edge.  I then layered this onto some aqua paper cut using spellbinders A2 devine eleoquence die, then onto a layer of white, then onto my card base.

To finish I added some enamel dots. Another Mother's Day card for my basket (which has already sold :))

supplies:
stamp- Penny Black - butterfly kisses
ink - versamark, white embossing powder, Gansai Tambi water colours - pale aqua (50), Yellow (40), orange (33), cadmium red (30), brown (46), for the shading around image I used- light brown(44), aqua (50)
dies - spellbinder - A2 devine eleoquence, labels twenty eight
paper - bazzill aqua, white cougar, canson water colour - 140 lb
misc - enamel dots, gold krylon pen

Thanks for your visit, have a wonderful day!
